A local investigation is being pursued into a deadly ICE shooting that occurred on Tuesday. Houston Mayor John Whitmire has directed the police chief to be proactive in the investigation, which is being hindered by federal control over evidence.

The mayor has instructed the police chief and city attorney to work towards gaining access to the necessary information. A meeting between the police chief and the FBI bureau chief is scheduled for next week, where the chief will request that the federal agency start sharing information.

Further details on the investigation and the shooting are available from KSAT 12, including statements from the mayor and information on the victim, 52-year-old Lorenzo Salgado Araujo.
