A change in ownership has occurred at the historic Esquire Tavern in downtown San Antonio. The new owner is Stephan Mendez, who has previously served as the operator and beverage director. Mendez has taken ownership of the tavern, which is located on Commerce Street, as well as its basement area known as Downstairs.

The Esquire Tavern is a notable landmark, featuring the longest wooden bar top in Texas. It has been in operation for 93 years. The previous owner was Chris Hill, an architect and developer who had restored the property.
